My Going Vegan Weight Loss Experience

I have always had a problem with my weight. When I was a child I was chubby and as I grew older it only grew worse. Things took a turn for the worse when I was in high school when my classmates nicknamed me Fatso. You know how teenage life is, so you could really say that mine was a little bit on the unhappy side. I never got to experience as much fun as I wanted to get from my high school days. I was actually resigned with my fate. I just accepted the fact that I was going to be overweight for the rest of my life. I didn’t do any diet because I was fond of good food, lots of it, and I did not take up any exercise because I felt that it was all too hard for me.

I was going through my life with that kind of outlook until last year. I was flipping through the channels one Sunday, eating my chips while slouching on my sofa when I came across this guy on TV. Something that he said made me stop from changing the channel. “Going vegan weight loss”, that was what he said. Honestly, I didn’t know anything about veganism back then. I though it was the same thing as vegetarianism, which seemed kind of fruity to me, but you could understand why anything that has some connection with weight loss can catch my attention back then. He said that going vegan changed his life by allowing him to lose all excess weight. I have heard that claim before and the truth is that I don’t buy it. I was going to change the channel when they flashed a before and after comparison of the guy. They showed him when he was still overweight, actually, he was obese. I was nowhere near him. I would have looked starved beside him. Then they showed a picture of him trying to fit into one of his fat man pants. Astonishing, to say the least.

I didn’t go vegan right away. I was under no illusion that it wouldn’t be a walk in the park but the kind of results that I saw on TV that gave me the inspiration to go through with all of the hardships that it entailed. I made friends with people who were able to help me out in starting to go vegan. These wonderful people were more than willing to help me out make the transition. They did their best in making my transition from a regular diet to one without any meat or dairy product into an easy one.

I was actually surprised by the ease of it all. Honestly, I didn’t think that I would last for a week without having a taste of meat in my mouth. Look at me now! I’ve stayed meat free since then and I have made wonderful progress in bringing down my weight to an ideal one. So I honestly recommend a vegan diet to anyone who wants to lose weight.
